چکیده مقاله:

Polymers have the least dielectric constants among other materials due to the lack of the magneticdipole moment. Amorphous polymers have a non-polar electric structure and low specific weight. These specifications of the polymers have earned them high acclaim in the electrical, telecommunications, and communication industries. Preparing foam from polymers could be aneffective approach to minimize their dielectric constant. The goal of this study is to investigate howthe density of polystyrene (PS) foams affects the dielectric constant. Expanded polystyrene (EPS)used to prepare foams with different densities and cell structure, the dielectric characteristics of thePS foams were obtained by a scanning electron microscope (SEM), a vector network analyzer (VNA),and a horn antenna with a lens using as the free space dielectric measurement method. The resultsapproves the direct relationship between the densities and the dielectric constant of EPS foams. Thedecreament in the densities of the EPS foams exhibits significant decay in their dielectric constant.
