چکیده مقاله:

This Work focuses on development of a new type of flame retardant (FR) using diethyl phosphiteand glutaraldehyde. The study also examines how this flame retardant agent can be applied topolyprophylene (PP) fabrics through surface coating to enhance their FR properties. The chemicalstructure of the FR agent and its bonding with fibers were analyzed. Besides, thermal stability, smokeand heat release, flame retardancy, and durability of the FR-coated fabrics were evaluated. Charresidue analyses confirmed the flame retardant behaviour of the coatings. The FR coatings alsoshowed a significant- reduction in the released heat and smoke compared to the neat PP fabrics, demonstrating the strong efficiency of the prepared FR agent due to the synergy of phosphorus andnitrogen. The FR-coated fabrics achieved a B۱ level in vertical burning tests and had a limitingoxygen index (LOI) of over %۲.۲۳. The PP fabrics maintained their flame retardant properties evenafter ۱۲ washes, showcasing the effectiveness of the covalent bond between the FR - agent and PP.Overall, this study introduces an innovative approach to enhancing the flame retardancy of polymertextiles.
