Rheological and Thermal Charactrization of Accelarated Weathering ofIntustrially Produced Polyethylene: Effect of the Molecular Structure

Effect of polyethylene structure on degradability of polyethylene under accelerated weathering hasbeen studied in industrial scale. For this purpose, LLDPE and HDPE films were subjected toaccelerated weathering for ۱۱۱۱ hr. Photo-oxidation behavior has been monitored by FTIR andrheometry at different weathering period of time. The spectroscopic analyses showed that degradationof LLDPE higher than that for HDPE. The HDPE sample wele undergone degradatin through chainscission due to short chain branches while the dominant mechanism of UV degradation of the LLDPEis reported to be crosslinking.
