Mosquito-repellent finishing of cotton fabric with dendriticpolymers/DEET/essential oil to create a protective layer

With the warming of the Earth and the expanding habitats of mosquitoes, the development offunctional textiles to provide effective protection against mosquitoes is crucial. This paperinvestigates the impact of PAMAM dendrimer presence on the release rate of mosquito repellents incotton finishing. The interaction between repellents and their release rate was studied using ATRFTIRand an electronic nose system. The findings demonstrate that dendrimer compounds, througheffective interactions with eucalyptus extract, DEET repellents, and fabric, facilitate gradual releaseof repellents. This approach resulted in highly effective mosquito protection lasting up to ۳۱ days.Nanoencapsulation of repellent compounds within polyamidoamine polymers contributed tocontrolled release and enhanced durability of repellents in this formulation.
