چکیده مقاله:
Chitosan, a natural biopolymer derived from chitin, has emerged as a promising candidate in the fieldof bone tissue engineering due to its biocompatibility, biodegradability, and osteoconductiveproperties. This review explores the various applications of chitosan for treating bone defects,emphasizing its role as a scaffold material, its potential in drug delivery systems, and its synergisticeffects when combined with other biomaterials. Chitosan-based scaffolds have shown considerablesuccess in promoting bone regeneration, providing a conducive environment for cell attachment,proliferation, and differentiation. Moreover, the incorporation of bioactive molecules and growthfactors within chitosan matrices enhances osteoinductive capabilities, accelerating the healingprocess. Advances in chitosan modification techniques have further improved its mechanicalproperties and biological functionality, making it a versatile tool in the repair of critical-sized bonedefects. Future research directions include optimizing chitosan composite formulations, exploringnovel fabrication methods, and conducting extensive in vivo studies to fully harness the therapeuticpotential of chitosan in bone tissue engineering.
