Treatment of High-Strength Wastewater Produced by PolyesterManufacturing Industry

High-strength wastewater generated by industrial polyester production processes is often contaminated by hazardsand has a high amount of chemical oxidation demand (COD) about ۱۰۰۰۰۰-۲۵۰۰۰۰ mgO۲/L. Different wastewatertreatment methods including distillation (once or twice), physical filtration, activated carbon adsorption, oxidation(mixture of TiO۲ and UV irradiation, hydrogen peroxide, ozone therapy for ۴۵ min, KMNO۴), and electrical currentoxidation were used to treat the high-strength polyester wastewater. The results expressed that the combination ofonce distillation and passing the wastewater through activated carbon had the highest efficiency and lowest cost.
