Poly(methyl methacrylate) Films Incorporating Leuco Dye as AcidIndicators: Applications and Innovations

Polymeric acid indicator films were developed using poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)Incorporating a pH-sensitive dye based on Fluoran, fabricated via the solvent evaporation method.These films demonstrate visible color changes in response to acidity variations. The films werecharacterized using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and proton nuclear magneticresonance (H-NMR) analysis to confirm structural integrity, and UV-Visible spectroscopy to assessoptical properties before and after exposure to HCl gas. With applications in food packaging, medicaldiagnostics, industrial processes, and environmental monitoring, these smart films offer enhancedsafety, quality control, and user experience. This innovation represents a significant advancement inpH-sensitive materials for diverse industrial applications
