چکیده مقاله:

In this research, the effect of ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) rubber viscosity on curingcharacteristics and mechanical properties of EPDM/styrene butadiene rubber (SBR)/organoclaynanocomposite was investigated. Three types of EPDM with different viscosities were blended with SBRin the presence of organoclay on a two-roll mill. All the samples were prepared with a fixed ratio (۵۰/۵۰)of EPDM/SBR, and ۳phr organoclay. The curing characteristics of the samples were evaluated andreported. The dispersion of organoclay in vulcanized samples was examined by an X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysis device and higher expansion of the organoclay layers was observed for nanocompositecontaining EPDM with the lowest viscosity was used to characterize. and measuring mechanicalproperties. However, in the nanocomposite containing EPDM with the highest viscosity, more layers wereintercalated. Mechanical properties of the samples, especially in those containing EPDM with higherviscosity, received a marked increase by the OC loading due to the good interaction established betweenorganoclay nanoparticles and polymer matrix
