چکیده مقاله:
European history will be a very important and key topic for students of history. Because Europe has always played a key role in the world. Also, Europeans have always had relations with the country of Iran, whether it was before the Christ (PBUH) or later. On the other hand, one of the most important periods in European history is the medieval period; which had many consequences in different societies. In this period, various elements have been influential in Europe; One of those elements is the church. A religious institution that played an important role in this period and deserves attention. It is worth mentioning that if we look critically at the Inquisition or the power of the Pope, we will come to some remarkable points about how Europe, which had an ancient era like Greece and Rome, has gone into a thousand-year sleep that opposes them with small cases. They don't get hit. Perhaps the main blow that somehow ended this thousand-year period and religious reformers such as Martin Luther King came to work was the church itself. A church that has benefited from the spiritual thoughts of Christianity so that it can have power in this historical moment; He can even bring down the king, who is the first power of the government, and continue their activities as big landowners. But with biases on religion, ideological pressures, the beginning of the historical crusades, it shows the events that caused the church to play a key role in the Middle Ages, and on the other hand, with the expansion of science and other activities, its power declined. In fact, it can be said that if we want to know the history of Europe in the Middle Ages well; It is inevitable that we go to the actions of the Popes and the Church in order to understand the incidents, events and their consequences.
