چکیده مقاله:

The use of breakwaters in ports is to create a calm basin for ships to dock and a calm environment for other harbor operations; however, the wave can penetrate into the internal environment of the port, depending on the wave propagation angle, the port geometry, etc. In this research, we intend to estimate and then compare the wave penetration in the Morvarid harbor using the SWASH model and the Boussinesq model of Mike۲۱BW. This port has the problem of wave penetration for north and east waves and is considered a suitable place to compare the capabilities of these models. The results for different wave direction showed the general similarity of the wave field from these models. Most western waves do not cause any problem in the basin. When single later mode is used in SWASH, some inconsistency of SWASH results were observed compared to the MIKE۲۱BW results. By increasing the vertical layers, the wave transmission increases in the SWASH model. The SWASH model was more stable in most of the cases than the MIKE۲۱BW model; however, its stability decreases by increasing the number of layers though.
