Green Innovations and Environmental Performance in Ghanaian Hotels: Unraveling the Mediating Role of Green Transformational Leadership

This study examined the effect of Green Innovation (GI) on the Environmental Performance (EP) of the Hotel Industry (HI) in Ghana, with a specific emphasis on the mediating role of Green Transformational Leadership (GTLS). Data was collected from a structured questionnaire administered to ۵۰۰ employees working in registered hotels in Ghana. The study employed a quantitative method for data collection. We used structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to analyze the data. The finding revealed a positive and significant influence of GI and GTLS on EP of the HI in Ghana. Furthermore, the findings indicated that GTLS mediated the relationship between GI and EP of the HI, underscoring the original insight that leadership plays a vital role in enhancing GI and EP within HI. The novelty of this research is an exploration of the relatively unexplored territory of green innovations in the Ghanaian hotel industry. While previous research has investigated EP in various sectors, the unique combination of GI and transformational leadership in Ghana's HI adds a novel dimension to the existing literature. These findings imply that creating an innovative atmosphere can be facilitated when hotel leadership fosters an environment that stimulates and boosts employees to act in ways that mitigate environmental challenges. Hotels can invest in eco-friendly products and services and integrate modern technologies to improve EP.
