چکیده مقاله:
Cement-based packed beds which is frequently used in the treatment of wastewaters contaminated with heavy metal ions, are more susceptible to crack propagation and fracture, causing the process problems such as pressure drop. Consequently, this type of beds should be designed reliably from the mechanical point of view. In the current research, the statistical methods were represented to analyze the compressive strength distribution for a cement-based bed fabricated as Raschig ring. The diametrical strength of rings was measured to predict the reliability. Although the normal distribution is applied for the estimation of failure, a special attention has been paid in screening the strength data by Weibull distribution. The results were analyzed by the Anderson–Darling test and Akaike information criterion to determine the proper function for the estimation of failure. It was statistically found that the normal distribution is preferable to fit the strength data according to Akaike information criterion.
