چکیده مقاله:

Plastics are one of the most pervasive environmental pollutants due to their non-biodegradable nature. These synthetic materials accumulate in landfills, oceans, and other ecosystems, leading to harmful effects on wildlife and habitats. Marine animals often mistake plastic debris for food, leading to ingestion, entanglement, and often death. As plastics break down into smaller fragments, they contribute to the growing problem of microplastics, which further contaminates soil and water, disrupting the food chain. The production and disposal of plastics also contribute to greenhouse gas emissions, exacerbating climate change. Overall, the environmental impact of plastics is vast and alarming, necessitating urgent action to reduce plastic use and improve waste management practices. Understanding the Risk of Microplastics on Human HealthMicroplastics are tiny plastic particles, often less than ۵ millimeters in size, that result from the degradation of larger plastic items or are manufactured as microbeads in consumer products. These particles have been found in a wide range of environments, including the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we consume. The potential risks to human health are concerning, as microplastics can carry harmful chemicals and pollutants that may be ingested or inhaled. Studies suggest that these particles may cause inflammation, oxidative stress, and even disrupt endocrine function, but the full extent of their impact on human health is still being researched. The pervasive nature of microplastics makes them a significant public health concern, highlighting the need for further scientific investigation and policy measures to mitigate exposure.
