چکیده مقاله:

Sulfur compounds such as sulfide, thiol, benzothiophene, etc. occur naturally in crude oil. As a result ofincomplete combustion, these fuels cause the release of acid rain, destruction of the ozone layer, anddamage to the ecosystem and the health of humans and other living organisms [۱]. In order to achievecleaner fuel characteristics, removing heteroatoms and converting large and complex molecules intosmaller molecules in order to produce valuable products with high efficiency (octane numbers andProvince high in fuel) needs desulphurization [۲]. For this particular project, a bentonite clay catalysthas been utilized for oxidative desulfurization of a dibenzothiophene model fuel. The bentonite surfacewas modified using both base and acid, and then functionalized with catalysts such as molybdenumtrioxide, copper (II) oxide, and iron (III) oxide. The resulting catalyst was analyzed using differenttechniques such as (FT-IR), (XRD), (FESEM), and (EDS). The obtained catalyst was then used for theoxidative desulfurization process. The study also investigated the effect of various parameters on theremoval process using Minitab software. The mutual interactions on the desulfurization process werealso studied. Furthermore, the leaching test confirmed the catalyst's stability, and it was found that thecatalyst could recover and maintain its catalytic activity after being used six times.
