By aminopropyl functionalization of gamma alumina, the pore diameter decreased from ۱۷ to ۱۶.۶ nm. Moxifloxacin hydrochloride which exhibits limited solubility in water, was loaded at a concentration of ۱۰% (w/w) onto functionalized sol-gel γ-alumina (Gam-Al-NH۲) using an impregnation process. In vitro tests were conducted in simulated body fluid (SBF). The concentration of released moxifloxacin was measured using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer and the calibration curve was created. The drug release from Gam-Al-NH۲-Mox was ۸۰.۱% after ۱۳۲۰ min. It can be concluded that synthesized alumina derivatives have promising prospects for future development [۱] (Fig. ۱).
