چکیده مقاله:

Heavy metal ions are the most common wastewater pollutants that raise global concern [۱,۲]. Various adsorbents, including porous and non-porous materials, have been applied for adsorption of heavy metal ions from wastewater. However, one of the more prominent problems is separation of sorbents from aqueous solutions after the removal of contaminants. The use of membranes and magnetic nanoparticles [۳] is the main proposed solution for solving the mentioned problem which has been reported in many studies. Activated carbons are common adsorbents for treatment of wastewater due to their high surface area, low-cost raw materials, such as agricultural solid wastes and hydrophobicity properties. Magnetic activated carbons (AC) derived from hazelnut shell using the chemical activation method with ZnCl۲ and KOH were prepared in the present work. The adsorption performance of the magnetic sorbents was evaluated for the removal of arsenic ions in the binary solutions. The synthesized adsorbents were characterized using XRD, FTIR, BET, XRF, FESEM, TGA and VSM. The effect of various operating conditions was investigated on the adsorption of metal ions.
