چکیده مقاله:

The increasing prevalence of chronic degenerative diseases as individuals age creates a significant socioeconomic burden associated with wound care, necessitating continuous exploration for novel, cost-effective, and efficient treatment options. Platelets play a crucial role in hemostasis and thrombosis, influencing various mechanistic phases of wound healing, including clot promotion and stabilization. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP), with its high platelet concentration and autologous origin, offers a promising avenue for enhancing the healing process without eliciting immunogenic adverse reactions. Despite decades of research and clinical trials investigating PRP's role in wound healing and tissue regeneration across diverse medical fields, questions persist regarding the efficacy of PRP-based therapies due to limited sample sizes, controlled trials, and standardized protocols. This review systematically explores the wound healing process and the contribution of platelets to tissue repair mechanisms. It also delves into PRP's preparation methods, handling, classification, and application in wound healing, as well as its potential as a regenerative therapeutic when combined with biomaterials and mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs).
