چکیده مقاله:

This study examines the influence of socio-political contexts and cultural values on news reporting througha comparative analysis of Persian and English-language media. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, weanalyzed ۵۰۰ news articles (۲۵۰ in Persian and ۲۵۰ in English) from major news outlets, covering two years. The research employed quantitative content analysis, qualitative discourse analysis, and statistical methods toinvestigate differences in reporting styles, content framing, and source utilization.Key findings reveal significant disparities between Persian and English-language media in several areas:(۱) article structure and length, with English articles being typically longer and more detailed; (۲) sourceutilization, with Persian media relying more heavily on official sources; (۳) news framing, particularly in therepresentation of government actions and national interests; (۴) integration of cultural values, with Persianmedia emphasizing collectivism and higher power distance; (۵) historical contextualization of current events;and (۶) the influence of religious and ideological factors on reporting.Statistical analyses, including t-tests, chi-square tests, and logistic regression, confirmed the significanceof these differences (p < .۰۰۱ for key comparisons). A trend analysis also revealed a gradual shift in Persianmedia towards more diverse sourcing practices over the study period. These findings underscore the profound impact of cultural and socio-political contexts on journalisticpractices. The study contributes to the fields of media studies and cross-cultural communication by providingempirical evidence of how news narratives are shaped by underlying cultural values and political systems. Ithighlights the need for a nuanced, culturally informed approach to international news consumption andproduction in an increasingly globalized media landscape. The research has implications for media literacy, international relations, and the future of globaljournalism, emphasizing the importance of understanding cultural and contextual factors in newsinterpretation and cross-cultural dialogue.
