Poetic License; Skillful Deviation for Artistic Creation

The very core of literature is language and when language is loaded with imagination becomes literature. Languageand literature have multiple layers of kinship. The existences of the one without the other is unimaginable.Literature is, in fact, actualized through language and it manifests itself through language. This concept, deeplyrooted in the tradition of literature and the arts, allows creators to manipulate language, form, and content in waysthat transcend ordinary limitations. Literature is termed as ‘creative’ and ‘imaginative’ writing because it employslanguage in peculiar ways. Poetic license refers to the freedom of the artists and poets to deviate the conventionalrules and to achieve a desired effect. As poetry stimulates the revision and revitalization of this experience andconsciousness, this paper will try to explore the various dimensions and importance of ‘poetic license’ in order tounderstand its significance in the realm of creative expression.
