چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: In a rapidly aging world, the role of older adults in volunteering and impartingtheir experiences and knowledge to younger generations has never been more crucial.Retirement, the period following employment, typically commences for individuals over ۵۰ inIran. This transition from the workplace to a new phase of life can significantly impactindividuals' living conditions, mental and psychological well-being, and social status.Unfamiliar with their new roles and responsibilities, retirees may experience confusion andanxiety, and contrary to the common belief of post-retirement freedom, some individuals mayencounter heightened feelings of depression and anxiety. Amidst this transition, two keyconcepts, "self-efficacy" and "social health," play a pivotal role in the quality of life for retirees.Self-efficacy is defined as an individual's belief in their capabilities to exert control over theirpersonal actions and their surrounding environment. Social health, on the other hand, encompasses the ability to effectively and efficiently fulfill social roles without harming others, encompassing various dimensions such as social integration, social acceptance, socialparticipation, social flourishing, and social cohesion. Studies have demonstrated a positiveassociation between high self-efficacy and better social health among older adults. Individualswith high self-efficacy are more likely to engage in social activities, form stronger relationshipswith others, and report greater life satisfaction. In Iran, approximately ۱۰ million individualsare retired. This growing population faces numerous challenges, including loneliness, isolation, and depression. Understanding the relationship between self-efficacy and social health caninform strategies to enhance the quality of life for retirees in Iran. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between self-efficacy and social health amongretirees at Fasa University of Medical Sciences in ۲۰۲۰.
