چکیده مقاله:

The mining industry is vital in societal advancement, providing essential raw materials for goods, services, and infrastructure. However, generating waste and radioactive emissions associated with mining activities poses significant risks to the environment and human health. In this context, adopting sustainable approaches for mine waste management, remediation of abandoned mines, and pollution prevention is of paramount importance. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the challenges and solutions related to mine waste management, pollution monitoring, and the rehabilitation of abandoned mines. By examining mining regulations in selected countries, the paper emphasizes the crucial role of stringent environmental enforcement and active civil society participation in overseeing mining activities.Furthermore, the paper delves into the detrimental impacts of mines on the environment and the mechanisms underlying these damages. Principles and methods for the remediation of contaminated and abandoned mines are discussed, with a focus on innovative technologies and sustainable approaches.Predictive measures for controlling mineral exploration and environmental assessments are also explored to proactively prevent future environmental degradation. Additionally, management techniques employed to mitigate the adverse effects of mines, waste stockpiles, and tailings on the environment are reviewed. The issue of radioactivity in mines and its monitoring and control is also addressed.
