چکیده مقاله:
Introduction: In view of the increasing number of diseases and the society's need formore uncomplicated treatments, this study was conducted with the aim of identifyingthe milk thistle plant and its effect on diseases. The milk thistle plant has been used inthe treatment of diseases since ancient times, and its effective ingredient is known assilymarin.Research method: The current research was conducted by searching Google Scholar,Scopus, PubMed, and SID databases from ۲۰۱۵ to ۲۰۲۴. In the searches, the standardPersian keywords Khar Maryam, silymarin, medicinal plants and its Englishequivalent Milk Thistle, Silymarin, Medicinal Plants were used individually.Findings: The studied studies confirm the significant effect of the milk thistle plantwith the scientific name Silybum marianum L. individually or in combination withother plants on liver enzymes. In these studies, no serious side effects from theconsumption of this plant have been reported.
