چکیده مقاله:
Background and Purpose: Investment in educational needs and information literacy can improve knowledge, skills, quality of services, and performance. Investigation of the relationship between educational needs and information literacy can be the right step in designing a correct and cost-effective educational program. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the relationship between educational needs and information literacy.Materials and methods: The present analytical study examined ۱۵۰ staff in private laboratories in Ilam City, Iran in ۲۰۲۳. Data were collected using a researcher-made questionnaire and its validity was approved by several laboratory experts with a reliability correlation coefficient of α=۰.۸۹. The data were then analyzed by descriptive statistics, Spearman's correlation coefficient, independent t-tests, and analysis of variance (ANOVA).Findings: A significant direct Spearman's correlation coefficient was obtained between the variables. According to a mean comparison of the two variables, educational needs and information literacy, since the significance level probability of the independent t-test was greater than ۰.۰۵ for both of them, the difference in mean educational needs and information literacy was not significant in gender groups at a ۹۵% confidence level. Furthermore, a mean comparison of educational needs and information literacy indicated no significant difference in work experience and education levels of age groups.Discussion and conclusion: According to the findings, there was a significant direct relationship between educational needs and information literacy. Moreover, the mean comparison of the two variables in the research groups (gender, history, education level, and age) using tests indicated that participants' demographic and occupational information had no significant effect on educational needs and information literacy.
