چکیده مقاله:

Cycling is becoming more popular around the world because of its personal, social, and environmental advantages. Cyclists,on the other hand, are among the most vulnerable road users. Despite traffic signal control, many bicyclists have conflictswith cars and pedestrians, particularly near junctions and intersections. The focus of this report is on the safety of cyclingat intersections. Various elements, including human, vehicle, and environmental factors, all have a role in the occurrenceof road accidents. The goal of this report is to look at several options and provide solutions for reducing cars or pedestrian-cyclist collisions at junctions. To resolve safety issues and reduce injuries, the first step is identifying the subjective oftraffic safety in the case of study. Then it is possible to collect information on the specific case and the reasons for theaccident and lack of safety. This research focuses on two subjective aspects including infrastructural and cultural effectson traffic safety and how they make unsafe feeling to cyclists according to the well-known regulations and codes includingThe German code and NACTO. Through an online survey, the perceived risk of car drivers and cyclists (no matter theconsequences of the crash) are investigated for seventeen common car-bicycle scenarios at signalized intersections. Acomparison between the subjective perceived risk and the objective risk shows that a discrepancy exists among both cardrivers and cyclists. Moreover, it shows that cyclists tend to perceive less risk than car drivers do. The implications of theseresults are vital for improvement of car-bicycle safety at signalized intersections.
