SAR Measurements of Sea Surface Wind Direction Using Morphological and Resemblance Analysis

Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) has the capability of providing high-resolution images from sea surface wind fields. Wind field analysis from SAR images allows the estimation ofwind direction and speed based on image descriptors. This is very useful for applications where knowledge of the sea surfacewind at fine scales is crucial. Studies such as oil spills, waves, ocean circulation, marine meteorology and the coupling of oceanic and atmospheric systems.In this paper we propose anew method based on morphological-resemblance analysis for wind direction estimation from SAR image
