چکیده مقاله:

In a modern world fraught with tension, Sex segregation remains a controversial topic with complex implications. This article, using a comparative lens, examines its justifications and criticisms in two distinct frameworks: Islamic jurisprudence and feminist theories. This article, drawing on the mainstream jurisprudential view, examines the reasons underlying sex segregation and then, considers the necessity of re-reading it in jurisprudential sources, especially the Qur'an and Hadith. This analysis simultaneously engages with different feminist perspectives and shows that some feminist theories support strict sex segregation but while strict sex segregation is prescribed by both traditional Islamic jurisprudence and radical feminism, there are deep gender boundaries between these two perspectives, and the basis and goal of each of them are contradictory. In conclusion, this article seeks to provide solutions for the ideal way of social interaction between women and men that is based on gender justice and the preservation of privacy.
