Investigation the nutritional potential of some rangeland plants species by in vitro gas production in Torbat-e Jam, Iran: a meta-analysis

The current study aimed to evaluate the nutritional potential of some rangeland plants by in vitro gas production kinetic in the Torbat-e Jam region using a meta-analysis approach. In the meta-analysis, the effect size of all outcomes was reported as a standardized means difference with ۹۵% confidence intervals. Q test and I۲ were calculated to determine the heterogeneity. A significant increase in ۲۴ h in vitro gas production, potential gas production, and the fractional rate of gas production was observed. The values of I۲ and Q for ۲۴ h gas production, bgas, and cgas effect size indicated high heterogeneity. No publication bias was found for ۲۴ h gas production, and bgas. With the evaluation of funnel plots, only one study on the right of each plot indicates publication bias for cgas. Considering the variations among studies, the current meta-analysis showed that the produced fermentation parameters can be affected by different rangeland plant incubation. Overall, it seems that most of the Torbat-e Jam rangeland plants species have high nutritional value in ruminant feeding. However, further in vivo and in vitro studies are required to assess the other nutritional aspects and their effects on animal performance.
