The discrete time-cost-quality trade-off problem in project networks

A project needs to be managed with time, cost and quality considerations. These three factors are the most important objectives of each project. Previous research has focused mainly on time-cost trade-off. However, recently the quality factor has emerged as one of the key criteria for project success. In terms of time, cost and quality trade-off, in a discrete mode, each activity can be executed using various methods and each method has its own time, cost and quality parameters. In this study, a time-cost-quality trade-off problem was formulated considering the precedence relationships. Also, considering the tri-objective nature of the problem, the fuzzy decision-making was used, and the problem was converted into a single-objective problem. One of the most significant advantages of the proposed approach is its ability to generate a final preferred solution rather than a set of Pareto optimal solutions.
