چکیده مقاله:
Attention deficit/ hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the most important psychological disorders in children, which has spread in the world and especially in Iran. The purpose of this research is to investigate facilitating factors in dealing with parenting challenges of ۱۸ parents who have children with attention deficit/ hyperactivity disorder. Data collection was done through semi-structured interviews like the preliminary questions (۱- What were your initial reasons for consulting a child psychiatrist? Please describe your experience in the doctor's office. Interviewee number ۳ "The teacher and school counselor recommended that we see a psychiatrist"), main questions (۱- What problems or challenges are you facing in your personal relationship with your child? What strategies are you adopting to deal with these challenges? Interviewee number ۴ "I have accepted that many of my child's behaviors are unintentional and influenced by illness, and I must have more patience and tolerance towards them). The findings showed that there are six main factors from the parents' point of view to overcome the challenges related to their children: ۱- Drug treatment, ۲- Parents' personality traits, ۳- Parents' awareness, ۴- Parents' interaction and cooperation, ۵- Lack of secrecy, ۶- teachers and trainers’ roles.
