چکیده مقاله:

Abstract Introduction: To compare outcomes of retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) with extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) as treatment of choice. Methods: A total number of ۴۶ patients with renal pelvic stones ۱۰-۲۰ mm and body mass index (BMI) >۳۰ randomized in two groups underwent RIRS and ESWL from ۲۰۱۱ to ۲۰۱۴ and followed for ۳ months. Results: The patients mean ± SD age was ۳۶.۱ ± ۱۳.۱ years in ESWL and ۳۳.۲ ± ۱۱.۴ years in RIRS groups (P = .۱) with comparable BMI in both groups (۳۶.۲ vs ۳۸.۱). In ESWL and RIRS groups, the operation time was ۷۲.۲ ± ۲۱ vs ۶۶.۵ ± ۱۹ minutes (P = .۰۶۱), respectively. Stone free rate (SFR) at ۳ months was ۶۸% in ESWL group vs ۹۰.۴% in RIRS group (P = .۰۱۹). The complication rate was ۲۰% in ESWL group vs ۱۴.۲% in RIRS group (P = .۲۱۱) but all of them were minor and managed conservatively. Conclusion: According to our study, RIRS procedure in comparison with ESWL is a safe and successful option of treatment for renal pelvis stone of ۱۰-۲۰ mm in obese people.
