Introduction :Chamomile plant, which is known as one of the oldest medicinal plants in human history, belongs to the family of chrysanthemums. Yarrow, chicory, sunflower are other plants of this family. The chamomile plant itself is divided into two categories: Roman chamomile (Chamaemelum Nobile) and German chamomile (Matricaria Chamomilla). The use of the first type is more common for medicinal and therapeutic purposes. This plant has many healing properties. Chamomile has anti-inflammatory properties, It is antispasmodic, sedative and anti-anxiety. The Latin name of chamomile is chamomile. Chamomile products help to improve diseases such as hay fever, inflammation, muscle spasms, menstrual disorders, insomnia, wounds, digestive disorders, rheumatic pains and hemorrhoids. More about chamomile they use it as a tea, and the dried leaves are popular as an infusion.Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) has a wide range of signs and symptoms, including mood swings, breast tenderness, cravings, fatigue Irritability and depression. It is estimated that ۳ out of every ۴ women experience some symptoms of premenstrual syndrome .Method :The current review by searching in reliable books and useful databases such as Scopus, Elsevier, PubMed, Science Direct, Google Scholar, Mag Iran, Iran Dog, and Iran Medex in the years ۲۰۱۳ to ۲۰۲۳ with keywords such as chamomile, complementary medicine, medicinal plants, and premenstrual syndrome was done.Findings :The main constituents of chamomile flowers are polyphenol compounds, including: apigenin, quercetin, patoletin and luteolin. These compounds fight free radicals and reduce the rate of cell mutation. Chamomile's antioxidant property is very suitable for better immune system function, reducing mood disorders, reducing pain and swelling, and healthy skin, hair, nails, teeth, and eyes. The essential components (essential oils) extracted from flowers are terpenoids. Chamomile is under early research for its potential anti-anxiety properties. The presence of useful compounds in this plant, especially parthenolide, leads to reduction of inflammation, reduction of inflammatory cell activity and reduction of histamine release. Chamomile's apigenin content is not only helpful in helping you sleep better, but it also helps reduce stress and anxiety. As an anti-anxiety agent, chamomile reduces stress symptoms. Chamomile as an anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic relaxes the muscles of the digestive system and reduces inflammation. Chamomile tea relaxes muscles and prevents spasms; for this reason, it relieves menstrual pain. This tea prevents the production of prostaglandins, which are the cause of menstrual pain. Chamomile prevents heavy bleeding and has a calming effect. It also combats PMS symptoms, balances mood, and reduces anxiety and depression that often occur during this period. Chamomile's positive effect on sleep quality reduces the risk of depression. Two important substance in chamomile that are effective in reducing premenstrual symptoms and menstrual pains is: Glycine: is a chemical that helps relieve muscle spasms and is a sedative. The high amount of glycine relaxes the uterus and thus reduces premenstrual pain.Conclusion :Considering the anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects of chamomile, this plant can be included and recommended in the prevention and reduction of PMS symptoms in women in a healthy lifestyle as a supplement or naturally. In fact, chamomile can be a promising and definitive treatment for the treatment of PMS symptoms. Chamomile's anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, sedative, and anti-anxiety properties may help relieve the pain and discomfort associated with premenstrual syndrome (PMS) that affects many women every month. Using chamomile effectively reduces the severity of physical and mental symptoms and the overall severity of premenstrual syndrome symptoms .
