چکیده مقاله:

Background: The high transmission and mortality rate of COVID-۱۹, combined with the shortage of treatment facilities and the heavy workload on healthcare personnel, especially nurses, can negatively impact mental health. Therefore, this study aimed to assess posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and mental health in nurses.Materials and Methods: This was a descriptive-analytical study, included ۳۹۳ nurses. Stratified random sampling was used. The inclusion criterion was nurses with at least one year of work experience. The data were collected using the General Health Questionnaire-۲۸ (GHQ-۲۸), the PTSD Checklist for DSM-۵ (PCL-۵). The data were analyzed using SPSS ۲۶. Results:The mean scores for PTSD and mental health were ۳۱.۶۳ ± ۱۸.۳۳ and ۳۰.۷۲ ± ۱۲.۵۰, respectively. A total of ۱۷۶ nurses (۴۴.۸%) have PTSD. A moderate disturbance observed in mental health. Significant relationships were found between age, work experience, number of children, a history of COVID-۱۹, and mental health (P<۰.۰۵). A significant relationship was also observed between a history of COVID-۱۹ and PTSD (P<۰.۰۵). Furthermore, an increase in the incidence of PTSD was associated with an increase in mental health disorders (P<۰.۰۰۱). Conclusion: Regular assessment and monitoring of mental health levels, along with the implementation of appropriate intervention strategies, can help improve the mental health of nurses.
