چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: The dignity of the mother and infant is of particular significance in settings where health services are provided. Health service delivery bordering on respect for the mother and baby's dignity is not only essential for preserving the life of the mother and the baby, but it can also boost the mother's self-esteem, instill a sense of comfort, and encourage her to become pregnant again. This study examined the status of respect for the human dignity of the mother and the baby from the perspective of birthing women at ۲۲nd-Bahman Hospital of Khaf, eastern Iran, in ۲۰۲۲. Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with ۳۸۴ birthing women who were selected by the census method. The data were collected using a questionnaire developed by the researcher regarding respect for the dignity of the mother and the newborn. The data were analyzed in SPSS-۲۲ statistical software, and statistical tests such as one-sample t, independent t, one-way analysis of variance, Tukey's post hoc, and Pearson correlation coefficient were performed at a significance level of p <۰.۰۵. Result: The participants' mean age was ۳۱.۱۳ ± ۳.۹۴ years. The majority of the women were housewives (۵۹.۹%) and had primary or secondary education (۵۵.۵%). Respect for the dignity of the mother and newborn received an average mean score. Conclusion: Respect for the human dignity of the mother and the infant is rated as average by women who have given birth. Therefore, managers and health policymakers must build on practical measures to promote and prioritize these concepts when providing health services to mothers and newborns.
