چکیده مقاله:

Today, one of the topics of interest and concern is global warming. One solution to face this global challenge is to turn to renewable energy such as biogas energy. Cities produce a significant amount of wastewater daily, making it a readily available and consistent source for electricity generation. Unlike other resources that may be seasonal or industry-dependent, urban sewage is continuously produced, ensuring a steady supply for energy production. Wastewater treatment processes often produce methane, a potent greenhouse gas. Implementing anaerobic digestion or other biogas production techniques can create a closed-loop methane cycle while generating electricity. Approximately ۶۸۴,۰۰۰ cubic meters of wastewater, equivalent to ۵۷ megawatt-hours of electricity, was produced in Tehran, which could serve as a supplemental energy source. Finally, this paper presents a comparison of the electricity generated using sewage against the usage of other energy sources for the same amount of electricity produced. One point to note is that with an increase in population and wastewater production, the volume of waste and raw material also increases.
