چکیده مقاله:

Auster’s novels which are the products of the contemporary world illustrate the writer’s surroundings, particularly New York which plays its role as the background setting of all his novels. He focuses on the cultural consumption and the shaky slogan of American dream for exposing the ambivalent policies of the capitalist system. Postmodern writers such a Paul Auster view the world as absurd and with unexpected final goal. They depict the boredom of postmodern life and its meaninglessness and utilize the writing techniques such as parody, pastiche, fragmentation, repetition to reflect the absurdity of postmodern American life.
