چکیده مقاله:

Electromagnetic (EM) radiation represents a promising technology for the future of thermal enhanced oil recovery processes, offering an alternative approach for effectively heating heavy oil and bitumen reservoirs through various mechanisms. This method involves the conversion of electromagnetic energy into thermal energy, facilitating the breakdown of large crude oil molecules such as asphaltene and resin, consequently reducing the viscosity of the crude oil. An important advantage of this method is its ability to simultaneously improve the quality and quantity of the crude oil. Numerical simulations, laboratory studies, and a limited number of pilot-scale applications have demonstrated the economic feasibility of EM heating. By addressing challenges and capitalizing on opportunities, EM heating holds significant potential for enhancing the efficient recovery of heavy oil resources, thereby contributing to energy security and minimizing environmental impacts in the oil industry.
