Polyphenol content and antioxidant activity of different Stachys byzantine extracts

Stachys byzantine belongs to Lamiaceae family, and has numerous biological activities. In this study,different extracts of Stachys byzantine (n-hextane, ethyl acetate, and methanole) were obttained, and then theirtotal phenol and flanavoid contents were investigated. Also, their antioxidant activities were studied. The resultsindicated that the highest phenol content was related to the methanol extract. Also, this extract had the highestflavonoid content. The analysis of antioxidant activity revealed that the ethyl acetate extract could inhibit highpercentage of DPPH radicals. So, the highest antioxidant activity of Stachys byzantine belonged to ethyl acetateextract.
