Synthesis of Dihydropyrano[۲,۳-g]chromenes Catalyzed by Metformin Under AmbientConditions

In this study, A mild and highly efficient one pot, multicomponent synthesis method has beendeveloped for the synthesis of dihydropyrano[۲,۳-g]chromene derivatives via addition of aromatic aldehyde,malononitrile and ۲,۵-dihydroxy-۱,۴-benzoquinone in the presence of metformin as a basic catalyst in watersolvent at ambient temperature. The target products were obtained in high to excellent yields and short reactiontimes by a simple work up.
