Reaction of arylidene malononitriles and N-۱-adamantyl acetoacetamide: Synthesis ofnovel adamantane-۴H-Pyran Hybrids

Novel ۴H-pyrans incorporating an adamantane moiety were synthesized by the sequential Michaeladdition/cyclization reaction of arylidene malononitriles and N-۱-adamantyl acetoacetamide. The ۲-pyronederivatives are formed upon hydrolysis of the iminopyran intermediates resulting from the intramolecularcyclization by nucleophilic attack of the hydroxyl group on the cyano group.
