چکیده مقاله:

Lifestyle is an important aspect of health protection and encourage to illness. Diabetes mellitus has harmful effects on body functions such as learning and memory. According to the role of exercise and medicinal plants on body health, the purpose of this study was to survey the effect of combined aerobic training and use of ripe pistachio hulls (RPH) hydro – alcoholic extract on Learning and memory in streptozotocin – induced diabetic male rats. In this experimental study, diabetic male Wistar rats weighing ۲۵۰-۲۸۰ g were used in ۵ groups with equal number of ۷ rats in each one. Rats were diabetic with streptozotocin (STZ) (۵۰ mg / kg), and the test protocol was applied for ۸ weeks. SPSS software was used to analyze the data and P < ۰.۰۵ was significant. The results showed that (step through latency in acquisition trial, STLa) was not significantly different among groups. While there were significant difference among groups in (step through latency in ۲۴ h retrieval, STLr ۲۴) and (time spent in dark compartment, TDC) (p <۰.۰۰۱). There was no significant difference between sham and saline diabetic groups. On the other hand, there were significant difference among effective dose and effective dose plus aerobic training groups compared to sham and saline groups (p <۰.۰۰۱). In conclusion, the findings of this study showed that the RPH hydroalcoholic extract and aerobic exercise could improve passive avoidance memory in streptozotocin diabetic rats.
