The Effect of Studying Text Summaries on Understanding English Texts for Pre-intermediate EFL Learners

Reading comprehension is one of the most important factors for learning English. For understanding reading part, you should know some strategies about how understanding the text better. This study aims to understand how summarization of the text can help students for reading comprehension. In this paper, I utilize ۲۰ students of one of the Chabahar English institutes and also I give summary of text to ۱۰ students and I don’t give summary to other ۱۰ students. The results reveal that summarizing has an important effect on understanding English text for pre-intermediate learners. The findings of the study showed that summarizing strategy has an important effect on learners’ reading comprehension. This study can be used for students and teachers
