Dragonflies and Damselflies (Insecta, Odonata) from the western region of Nepal with new records of four species

Dragonflies and damselflies are bioindicator species belonging to the class Insecta. The research was conducted in the Karnali River basin from April to early October ۲۰۲۲ to contribute and update the Odonata checklist of Nepal including documenting regional new species. From the odonatological survey, four species viz., Aristocypha spuria Selys, ۱۸۷۹, Pseudocopera ciliata (Selys, ۱۸۶۳), Aciagrion occidentale Laidlaw, ۱۹۱۹ and Zyxomma petiolatum Rambur, ۱۸۴۲ were recorded for the first time from Nepal. Besides these, Copera marginipes (Rambur, ۱۸۴۲), Copera vittata (Selys, ۱۸۶۳), Prodasineura autumnalis (Fraser, ۱۹۲۲), Agriocnemis clauseni Fraser, ۱۹۹۲, Ceriagrion cerinorubellum (Brauer, ۱۸۶۵), Cephalaeschna viridifrons (Fraser, ۱۹۲۳), Gynacantha incisura Fraser, ۱۹۳۵, Gynacanthaeschna sikkima (Karsch, ۱۸۹۱), Lamelligomphus risi (Fraser, ۱۹۲۲), Scalmogomphus bistrigatus (Hagen in Selys, ۱۸۵۴), Rhodothemis rufa (Rambur, ۱۸۴۲), Tetrathemis platyptera Selys, ۱۸۶۸ and Urothemis signata signata (Rambur, ۱۸۶۲) were newly recorded for western region of Nepal.
