چکیده مقاله:

Phrasal verbs have a distinct linguistic pattern in English that might pose challenges for translators in some instances. Yule (۱۹۹۶) defines this linguistic structure as a term that encompasses two or three distinct yet interconnected constructions in the English language. The purpose of this study is to investigate the strategy of phrasal verbs in the novel Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K Rowling (۱۹۹۷). This study employed a kind of analysis known as descriptive textual analysis. Based Baker's (۲۰۱۸) theoretical framework, we categorized and inserted the strategies. By organizing them into separate tables, found that out of the six strategies proposed by Baker, the most commonly used strategy to translate the idiom in this study is translation by paraphrase, accounting for ۴۲.۶۶% of the translations. Conversely the translation by omission of play on idiom is the least strategy used to translate the idiom in this study, with a rate of ۰%. And the strategies between them are respectively: using an idiom of similar meaning and form (۳۲.۶۶%), using an idiom of similar meaning but dissimilar form (۲۱.۳۳%), translation by omission of entire idiom (۲.۶۶%) and borrowing the source language idiom (۰.۶۶%). Given that this study is a case study, it is important to note that our opinions cannot be extrapolated or applied universally.
