Investigating of the Translation of Taboo Words into Persian Subtitle

Taboo Words are ones that people are somehow reluctant to bring up, yet in any case, particularly in the modern world, they have become an essential component of everyday speech. Even movies have included these words, which are utilized by movie characters in several films and TV shows. In order to determine the amount of which forbidden words are used in various forms of communication, this study aims to examine one technique of Taboo Words usage in the fan-sub Persian subtitle of film. First, after selecting the preferred film, Family Guy, locate the Taboo terms in both original and fan-sub Persian version of film. Then, employing Cabrera`s(۲۰۱۶) theory, identify the translation techniques employed to translate the Taboo Words. The five different strategies that are employed in translating these forbidden phrases are as follows: toned down, toned up, maintained, neutralized and omitted. The most frequently employed strategy is maintained by about ۵۲%, while the least frequently utilized strategy is omitted by ۵%, about ۲۰% have been employed to tone things down, about ۱۲% to tone things up, and about ۱۰% to neutralize them. However, it is evident that Taboo phrases are used in cinematic works. The challenging part of translating these terms into other language is that it depends on a variety of cultural circumstances
