چکیده مقاله:

The impact of mother tongue on process of teaching-learning English as a foreign language is a fact that can be noticed as an effective means of achieving goal. The main focus of this study is on diversity and creativity in teaching those English sounds which are problematic because of their absence from students’ mother tongue sound system. ۲۷ female students were selected among ۱۲۰ students (aged ۱۳) who were at the same level of English at a public school in Khoramshahr city. There were a pretest to consider students’ proficiency in producing problematic sounds, a treatment period (۳ sessions, once in a week) during which students in ۹ groups (with three members, a Kurd, a Persian, an Arab) helped each other to produce the sounds as correctly as possible by using their potential ability because of having those sounds in their own mother tongue sound system, and a posttest to examine students’ progress in production of the sounds. The results showed that unifying diverse students was a creative method that increase their proficiency in pronunciation and it can reject some English teachers’ negative attitude about impact of students’ mother tongue on teaching-learning process
