Crimes against Public Health in Slum Areas and Its Prevention Strategies

Background and purpose: Today, paying attention to urban rights and issues, including crimes against public health, is an important and necessary matter, it should be the attention of criminal policy makers and also urban trustees, and in the meantime, more vulnerable groups such as slum citizens need more attention. Therefore, this article deals with crimes against public health in slum areas and its prevention strategiesMethod: This research is of a theoretical type and the research method is descriptive-analytical and the method of collecting information is library-based and was done by referring to documents, books and articles.Ethical considerations: In all stages of writing the present research, while respecting the originality of the texts, honesty and trustworthiness have been observed.Findings: The findings of the research indicate that slum citizens, like residents of other areas, have access to their basic rights, such as the right to health, and governments are required to provide it. On the other hand, among the preventive strategies of crimes against public health, it is possible to mention the distribution of disinfectants and hygiene supplies, the increase of health and treatment centers, and the improvement of sanitary water and sewage infrastructures.Conclusion: despite the provision of attention to public health and the criminalization of these crimes according to domestic laws and international documents that originate from human dignity and considering that the slum areas due to the lack of proper health and treatment facilities in these areas, the public health of the slum citizens with There are issues. Therefore, appropriate strategies should be initiated at various levels to deal with crimes against public health in slums.
