Challenges in Diagnosing and Managing Pulmonary Mucormycosis in a Multimorbid Patient: A Case Report

مقدمه/ بیان مساله : Pulmonary mucormycosis, a rare and potentially fatal fungal infection, poses significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. It primarily affects immunocompromised individuals, with a propensity for invasive lung involvement. This introduction provides an overview of the disease's characteristics and its relevance within the context of the presented case report.معرفی بیمار : This case report details the clinical course of a ۴۶-year-old male patient who presented with fever, weakness, fatigue, and cough lasting for ten days. The patient also complained of non-productive cough and shortness of breath, which was not exertion-related and remained unchanged with positional shifts. The patient's medical history included chronic kidney disease, hypertension, and diabetes mellitus. He was admitted to the hospital twice due to worsened symptoms and received treatment for suspected COVID-۱۹, including tocilizumab, which initially led to symptom improvement. However, a subsequent deterioration prompted investigations for mucormycosis, although no evidence was found to support this diagnosis.
