Tracheobronchopathia Osteochondroplastica with Eosinophilia and urticaria: A Case Report

Tracheobronchopathia osteochondroplastica (TO) is a rare disorder of unknown cause affecting the large airways. It is characterized by the accumulation of bony and cartilaginous nodules in the tracheal and bronchial mucosa. it can be asymptomatic or present with productive cough and dyspnea. In this study, we present a case of TBPO with eosinophilia and urticaria.معرفی بیمار : A ۵۹-year-old non-smoker woman with dyspnea, productive cough from ۲۰ years ago, and chronic urticaria from ۶ years ago, was admitted for further evaluation of dyspnea. Computed tomography of the chest revealed irregular nodular thickening and calcification of the trachea, sparing the posterior wall. the patient underwent a bronchoscopic examination, which revealed protruding sessile nodules in the tracheal lumen, with a cobblestone appearance. Histopathological examination of biopsies taken during bronchoscopy showed cartilaginous submucosal nodules and squamous metaplasia consistent with the diagnosis of TO.بحث و نتیجه گیری : TO is not an easily recognized disease, characterized by wheezing, cough, hemoptysis, and recurrent pulmonary infection, and should be kept in mind, especially in patients with tracheal irregularities in their chest imaging. there is no specific treatment for TO. In some cases, bronchoscopic radiofrequency and argon plasma coagulation therapy have been effective palliative treatments. In this case, accompanied with eosinophilia and urticaria were uncommon and interesting.
