Evaluation of the effect of the curing method by spraying the curing compounds, as one of the newcuring methods, on the changes in the behaviour of plastic shrinkage cracking in concrete pavements, asone of the common failures in these structures, is of great importance. The present research evaluates thethe behaviour of the temporal changes of plastic shrinkage cracking in concrete pavements cured with acuring compound. Equilibrium time and cracking initiation time of the reference and cured concrete slabsby spraying the curing agent at the amount of ۱۰۰, ۲۰۰ and ۳۰۰ gr/m۲ were evaluated, according to theASTM C۱۵۷۹ standard test method. The results showed that spraying the curing compounds significantlyincreased the equilibrium time and cracking initiation time by ۳.۸ and ۲.۹ times, respectively. Sprayingcuring compounds up to ۲۰۰ gr/m۲ had a noticeable effect on increasing the equilibrium time and crackinginitiation time, but no significant increase was observed at the spraying rate of ۳۰۰ gr/m۲. Also, it was seenthat the equilibrium time changed more than the cracking initiation time by spraying the curing compounds.In the end, it was stated that due to the significant increase in the equilibrium time and the cracking initiationtime in concrete pavements by using the curing compounds, it is possible to utilise this substance in theappropriate and optimal amount, which in this research was seen at ۲۰۰ gr/m۲, to prevent significantly theoccurrence and growth of plastic shrinkage cracking in concrete pavements and consequently improve thedurability and performance of these structures.
