چکیده مقاله:
Medicinal plants have been used to mitigate reproductive complications of diabetes. Weinvestigated the effects of garlic juice on the activity of catalase and glutathione peroxidaseenzymes in diabetic rats. Twenty-four male Wistar rats were divided into four groups(n=۶/group): Control group (C), Diabetic group (D), Diabetic group receiving ۰.۵ ml/۱۰۰ gb.w of garlic juice (D+G۰.۵), Diabetic group receiving ۱ ml/۱۰۰ g b.w of garlic juice(D+G۱). The experimental period was ۳۰ days. The activity of catalase and glutathioneperoxidase enzymes decreased in the epididymis of diabetic rats. Treatment with garlic juicein doses of ۰.۵ and ۱ ml/۱۰۰ g bw increased the activity of these enzymes, with dose ۱ml/۱۰۰ g b/w being more effective. It is suggested that garlic can act as an antioxidant forreproductive complications of diabetes.
